Description
The Finance Department is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Assistant Finance Director who is committed to excellence in public service, strong financial stewardship, and supporting a growing community. We are looking for a strategic leader who can guide key financial functions, strengthen internal controls, and serve as a trusted partner to the Finance Director and County leadership.

Key Responsibilities
- Key leadership role supporting the Finance Director in managing the County’s financial operations.
- Assist in budget development, monitoring, and long-term financial planning.
- Oversee internal controls, ensure process improvement, and maintain compliance with State and Federal requirements.
- Manage accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
- Support debt management, investment oversight, and annual audit preparation.
- Serve as Acting Finance Director in the Director’s absence to ensure continuity of operations.
- Uphold Granville County’s commitment to transparency, accuracy, and sound fiscal stewardship.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- NC Local Government Finance Officer Certification (or ability to obtain)
- 5+ years of professional accounting or governmental finance experience
- 2+ years supervisory experience
- Demonstrate advanced Excel capabilities
