We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer - Spaceflight Hardware to join the team with JETS.
The Project Engineer - Spaceflight Hardware will:
- Provide test support.
- Prepare and close test paperwork.
- Maintain and ensure baseline test configuration and document any configuration changes.
- Organize and track inventory.
- Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate failures within hardware or test support hardware.
- Coordinate with test facilities (i.e. Vibration Test Facility) as needed.
- Coordinate flight logistics as flight articles are prepared for launch to the International Space Station (ISS).
- Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.
- Work in a collaborative, team environment and report to project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes.
- Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
Required:
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field or in a related area.
- BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school.
- Experience with hardware testing.
- Ability to work autonomously when required.
- Self-motivated, team player with adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
- Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- Willing to work off hours/alternative shifts when running tests or supporting flight operations.
- Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware.
- Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes.
Requisition Preferences:
- Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency using them to perform assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting on electrical systems.
- Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Experience with procedure development.
- Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or other NASA agency.
- Prior experience working and coordinating requirements with third party/outside vendors.
- Familiarity with NASA Quality operational procedures and requirements.

Essential Functions
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
