- Adjunct Instructor
Description
The Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach two foundational courses within the Master of Science in Rehabilitation Technology (RT) and Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) programs: RT 2101 Fundamentals of Rehabilitation & Assistive Technology Applications and RT 2206 Rehabilitation & Assistive Technology Practices. This position plays an essential role in preparing students to understand and apply evidence-based assistive technology principles within clinical and community-based service delivery models. The instructor will leverage professional experience in rehabilitation technology to facilitate highly interactive and clinically relevant learning experiences. The role includes instruction that directly supports the planning and execution of the program's annual RT 2101 Deep Dive hands-on learning event.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Design, develop, and update course content, including lectures, syllabi, and assessments.
- Deliver high-quality online and/or in-person instruction using effective teaching strategies.
- Facilitate interactive, discussion-based learning that builds critical thinking skills.
- Design and implement both synchronous and asynchronous learning activities
- Assess student performance through exams, projects, laboratory activities, and participation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Master's degree or higher in Rehabilitation Technology, Assistive Technology, Prosthetics & Orthotics, Occupational Therapy, or a closely related field
Professional Expertise
- Demonstrated clinical experience in rehabilitation technology service delivery, seating and mobility, or assistive technology applications
- Strong understanding of current technologies, service models, professional standards, and funding environments within rehabilitation and assistive technology
Teaching Skills
- Experience teaching or mentoring students in health sciences or rehabilitation fields
- Ability to create engaging, applied learning experiences using learning management platforms and instructional technologies.
